I am grateful to Carrie de Silva for her support in my search for photographs of Stefania photographs and to Julita Polanska for her help in my reading of her letters. My special thanks go to Karin Huser, Bogumiła Husak, Andrea Siegels, and Krystyna Sztranc, who all helped me in my archival research. Their assistance was invaluable in my reconstruction of the biography of Stefania Wolicka.
