Patrycja MIKULSKA, “I believe in Freedom”…

Cena brutto: 7,00 PLN za szt.

The essay analyzes the category of rebellion conceived as “freedom against,” in contrast with negative freedom (“freedom from”) and positive freedom (“freedom to”), and reflects on the role of rebellion in culture. The discussion has been inspired by Albert Camus’s understanding of rebellion not only as opposition to enslavement, but also as seeking the right measure for action in conformity with human nature. Philosophical ideas and activities of the ancient Cynics are considered as expressions of rebellion in the sense proposed by Camus. The essay also addresses the questions related to teenage rebellion and to contemporary changes in the assessment of the value of freedom.

Keywords: freedom, rebellion, enslavement, human nature, Albert Camus, ancient Cynicism, teenage rebellion
