Patrycja MIKULSKA, The Hand of God

Cena brutto: 7,00 PLN za szt.

The essay analyzes the category of coincidence and the possibility of giving different interpretations to events experienced as accidental. Attempts to comprehend the meaning of such events may lead, among others, to a philosophical belief in their teleological character or a religious belief in Divine Providence. Inspired by Graham Greene’s novel The End of the Affair, the discussion draws on Aristotle’s interpretation, presented in his Physics, of chance in terms of causality.

Keywords: coincidence, chance, luck, Providence, causality, Graham Greene, Aristotle
